Mary More

Account Manager

About Mary
Mary originally joined the IRP team 11 years ago as a temporary worker for 2 weeks in an administrative role. This position involved taking phone calls, screening resumes and putting candidates through for review. Mary proved to be excellent in this role and thus IRP decided to keep her on. Shortly after this, she progressed to the position of a Recruiter for two Account Managers, which came with more responsibility.

As time went on, there was enough room for Mary to become an Account Manager herself. Mary has specialised in a variety of portfolios including Local Government, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Waste Management and FIFO roles.

Prior to entering the recruitment world, Mary worked in a wide range of roles. She’s been a cleaner, a dish washer, a fruit picker – you name it, she’s probably hustled it.

Back home in New Zealand, Mary worked in her local Council for 7 years doing water billing on the finance team. This gave her a great insight into how Councils work, which has been beneficial to her recruiting for this industry.

Q&A
When I'm not busy with work...
I like to make connections face-to-face - I love spending time with Family, I still go to the bank in person once a week, I have been going to the same Accountant for nearly 20 years. I’m an active member of the Library and support various Community groups.

Taking the time to meet in person builds history, conversation and connection. Eventually, building a strong Community whether it be Family, Business or Community Groups. I suppose you could call it “the original loyalty program”.

What do you love about working in the recruitment industry?
I liked recruiting instantly - I really like helping people. Many of our applicants are from overseas, I still remember the challenges of looking for work in another Country. That is why I'll explain the process of how recruitment works here in Perth. I offer them any tips and tricks I can. I always try to ensure a kind and helpful experience for everyone.

I encourage all our candidates to apply for full time work opportunities at their Host Company. I will support them 100% as I know first-hand the sense of achievement and the peace of mind that comes with moving from casual to full time work.

Do you have any success stories from your time working in the industry?
One of the best things for me is when my candidates return to me years after finding them their initial job. For example, one guy worked for me 4 years ago and then went full time in that job. When he was ready to leave that placement, he came back to me, and I found him his next job. I’m also super proud of my low churn rate amongst my candidates.
