About Brad
Brad joined IRP over 2 years ago as an Account Manager, specialising in recruitment for the Manufacturing Industry. Prior to joining the team here, Brad worked as an Operations Manager for 15 years, gaining some valuable experience managing teams and resources.
In 2016, Brad’s friend who ran a Mining Electrical Company, asked him if he would like to join him in starting a Labour Hire Company for this industry. Brad thought this was an excellent opportunity and thus began his journey in the recruitment world.
In this role he recruited for mining sites all over Australia, mainly for mining and underground electricians. He had the opportunity to visit some of the mining sites in Kalgoorlie giving him a great insight into the roles we was recruiting for and how the industry worked in general. As most of the roles were FIFO, this job was very office based and involved pay roll tasks and admin duties on top of the recruiting.
6 years later a new opportunity arose with IRP to join the team here as an Account Manager. Brad liked the sound of a more hands-on role which allowed for more time on site with clients and so he took the job. He believes the face-to-face aspect of meeting clients and candidates makes such a difference to the recruitment process and helps to build meaningful relationships. He feels he is a part of the business with his clients which is so important when it comes to finding the right fit for their team.
Q&A
When I'm not busy with work...
I am busy with family! My two daughters keep me busy with all of their activities – dancing, football, water polo, netball, softball, the list goes on. I will always attend their practices and support them with their interests. We also go to the beach quite a lot. I sometimes get the chance to go for a run and swim before work, or even a sauna and ice bath if I have time.
What do you love about working in the recruitment industry?
It is a great feeling when a candidate gets accepted into full time employment, especially when they had little experience or confidence to start with and you get to see them grow over time. Seeing the joy and relief when they get permanent full-time work makes it all worthwhile. It is also super rewarding when you find the perfect fit for a hard-to-fill position or one you’ve been trying to fill for a while! I also enjoy meeting so many new people and forging great relationships.
Any success stories from your time working in this industry?
I’m pretty proud of the amount of my candidates who have progressed from casual to permanent full-time positions, I think there’s been around 50 so far. Most of the workers want that security of a full-time job so helping that to happen is really rewarding.
