Date Published:

22-Apr-2025

Key Points

  • $55 - $65 p/h + Super
  • Monday to Friday work – limited after hours or weekends
  • Based in Maddington
The Client:
My client is a small Perth-based industrial electrical contracting company specialising in generators (control system upgrades/fault finding/repairs/servicing etc). Other general electrical services include the manufacture and fit out of small panels and switchboards (assorted sizes), programming of control modules, together with general fault finding and repairs to assorted industrial electrical equipment.

Due to continued high workload, they are currently looking to add an experienced Electrician to their team in Maddington. This role is best suited to someone who enjoys working autonomously, whilst still being easy-going and a positive influence on a small team environment.

The Role:
The role will be based at the client’s workshop in Maddington and include local travel to their customer sites across the Perth metro area for fault finding, testing and servicing generators.

Whilst there is plenty of guidance on business specific practices available, the role will be relatively autonomous and as such requires applicants with extensive experience working on generators and off grid / back up power solutions. Additionally, switchboard assembly and programming experience will be highly regarded. A demonstrated ability to interpret and work from electrical drawings is a requirement.

In a small business, the day-to-day works can be varied and as such you will need to have a flexible mindset and be open at times to priorities changing throughout the day. You may find yourself working on generators, fault finding, testing, servicing, and/or quoting client enquiries. A good knowledge of electrical components would be of huge advantage for customer interactions. With progressions in technology having a strong influence on modern systems and business in general, computer literacy is also vital to your success in the role.

Additionally, the successful applicant will need to be a strong communicator as there is regular liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

Why such a good opportunity?
This role is suited to a skilled electrician who is looking for stable, family-friendly hours and a role that provides both variation and a sense of ownership over their work. Whilst aspects of the role unique to the client’s business will be taught, we are looking for someone with experience who can hit the ground running.

The role offers:
  • Long-term security (temp to perm)
  • Good starting rate with opportunity to grow based on ability
  • Family-first culture and hours (Weekdays 7:30am – 4pm)
  • Opportunity to learn and develop - especially in the programming space
  • Varied role – not stuck doing the same thing all day, every day
  • Technical role – not out running cables and completing installs all day
  • Local Perth-based work
  • Working with both established customers who have existing relationships with the client and new incoming customers
  • Learning to become self-sufficient across all aspects of the business
  • Very easy-going environment where you can enjoy turning up every day
Who Are We Looking For?
First and foremost, you must be reliable, with a good attitude and willing to fit into the existing workplace culture. Experience with generators, small panels and switchboards is essential, any ability or past exposure to generator control system programming will be looked upon favourably.

Detailed requirements as below:
· Western Australian A-Grade Electrical Licence
· Experience with generators, small panel builds and switchboards
· Ability to work from customised drawings
· Computer literacy
· Proficiency quoting for works and liaising with customers
· First Aid / First Responder certs (preferred not essential)
